God what a great, funny movie. I think I liked this one more than the Avengers. The Avengers, I felt, was a "game changer" for the Marvel MCU, establishing that you can do a team film and create a larger universe that alludes to more stuff, but Guardians was just so much more fun. I almost saw this movie a second time last night and maybe I still will.

There was a few nitpicky stuff, like I thought the Nova corps making a space web to stop the ship was a dumb idea form the get go. Quill also seems to have accumulated a lot of Earth junk and some references that aren't just mid 80s so I would assume that he's been back to Earth once or twice but they never said anything about that. That really wasn't necessary for the movie I suppose but I had a "hey wait a minute" moment when he mentioned "glowing briefcase" as in Pulp Fiction. Someone might nitpick the batteries for the walkman as well but I would think that in a movie where they're warping from planet to planet to get a space gem and they hang out in a giant's head, a couple of AAs should be easy peasy.

I also loved seeing Howard at the end (voiced by Seth Green!). I never really read his stuff as a kid but he definitely deserves better than his last movie. I could tell half the audience got it and laughed while the other half basically got confused.
